Writing Friday #7: Persuasive

There is a big controversy about requiring seatbelts in school buses. My opinion is that that is a stupid idea and if you look at the facts, it is an unpractical idea too. If they were to get seatbelts for school buses who would regulate them? There is only one adult on the bus (the driver) and she should be keeping her eyes on the road and not on all the kids in the back. Also, a lot of kids don’t even wear seatbelts in their own cars (not a good idea, but it still happens) so what’s the difference in “protection” anyway? Also who would pay for the seatbelts? I am pretty sure a lot of parents might change to my side when they hear that they would have to pay for them with their taxes. Ultimately, my opinion is that seatbelts should not be required on any school buses (like it is now) and that is the way they should keep it. After thinking over everything that I have said, whose side would you be on?

I am on the side of requiring all students riding a school bus to wear a seat belt. Kids are required to be in a car seat up to a certain weight and most parents /insurance companies and state agencies feel seat belts save lives. Seat belts should be provided on school buses and worn not because is would be hard to enforce, but because its the right thing to do. My car doesn't leave the driveway without everyone complying to this rule.
