Writing Friday #13: Narrative: Personal (for issue Two of The Crusader)

I love to skateboard and I have been doing it for over a year. I skateboard at my friends’ house, at the beach, and at skateparks in Baltimore. Skateboarding is one of the many sports I play including soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and snowboarding. One reason I like skateboarding is because it is a totally personally based thing. You don’t have to go to practice or go to a game, it is just a hobby. Not that I don’t like team sports, but sometimes it is fun to just fool around. Other times, you want to learn a new trick and you are extremely focused on what you are doing right or wrong. Another reason I like skateboarding is because you can do it wherever; in the street, on stairs, or in skate parks. You can go down-town and around Baltimore and just skate really good and sometimes famous skate spots. It could be a ledge, a manual pad, a loading dock, a stair set, or a rail. Places like Ridge Lumberyard in Baltimore Maryland is a skate spot that a ton of skateboarders made and there are rails and ledges everywhere you turn. But there is a downside to skateboarding. Getting kicked out of spots stink and if the Cops come it is even worse. I don’t care what the police say, I am going to skateboard no matter what.
